Ecuador has a small specialty coffee production, making this coffee is rare and unique. We are lucky to partner with Stephanie Cano and her company Trasus Coffee. Stephanie is Ecuadorian but based in Los Angeles and is committed to sourcing the finest coffees from Ecuador for goodboybob. Trasus Coffee is committed to making Ecuadorian coffee more visible and is a valuable link between producers and US roasters. January’s rare coffee comes from the volcano-rich province of Pichincha in north-central Ecuador. It's home to Quito, the country's capital, and is most notable for its high elevation and innovative producers.
Familia Morales Rivera operates Finca Cruz Loma and has won accolades for their COE winning lots. These same Sidra and Typica varieties, processed with the same washed anaerobic method, earned 3rd place in the 2023 Ecuador COE. Our lot was harvested towards the end of the 2023 / 2024 harvest cycle, vacuum packed, and delivered via air freight to goodboybob.
Galo, a family producer from Finca Cruz Loma, described the tipica/sidra anaerobic process for us. "Hand-picked at peak ripeness. Floated. De-pulped. Held in anaerobic tanks for an undisclosed amount of time. Washed. Dried on raised beds until the moisture content reaches 10.5%."
The combination of terroir, the farm blend of sidra and typica varieties, and the intentional processing produce a great cup of coffee that tastes like honey, lime, bergamot, and berries.
