Making its return to goodboybob is Argopuro from Indonesia. One of our most important relationship coffees, we look forward to this unique Indonesian coffee coming back to our menu. It surprises every year, and shows that coffee from Java is on the cutting edge of innovation and breaking from traditional expectations of Indonesian coffee. The quality is consistently the best we’ve tasted from Indonesia, and the coffee allows the producers to meaningfully support their communities.
Coffee from Indonesia has faced an uphill battle with limited support and resources from the government and few incentives to produce specialty-grade coffees. Our supplier, Belift Green Beans, is changing that, and the Walida Cooperative, which produces Argopuro, stands out in the region for its quality and social investments in education.
This coffee was processed using the Anaerobic Natural method. To produce the best cup quality possible, the ripest cherries are picked and sorted, then these cherries are further sorted by submerging in water. Those that float are removed.. The cherries are then sealed in low-oxygen tanks and allowed to ferment before being dried in the sun. The cherries are constantly turned to prevent mold and other defects. The end result is an amazingly clean, fruit-forward coffee that tastes like black currant, mango, dark chocolate, rose, and red grape, with a silky mouthfeel.
