Origin: Burundi

In the highlands of northern Burundi, Ngozi Province is a region where coffee growing is deeply woven into the fabric of its communities. At approximately 1,800 meters above sea level, its distinctive terroir produces coffees with remarkable vibrancy and complexity, expressed here through citrus blossom, fig, honey, and chocolate. The region carries particular significance for JNP founder Jeanine Niyonzima Aroian, whose mother grew up in Ngozi.

Sourcing

Bavyeyi is produced by more than 2,000 members of the Bavyeyi Cooperative, many of whom are women, with support from JNP and founder Jeanine Niyonzima-Aroian. JNP works alongside producers to strengthen farming practices and achieve the quality needed to command premium prices, while its broader work supports financial literacy, leadership, education, and access to clean water in coffee-growing communities. We’re proud to bring this exceptional lot back for its third year, continuing a relationship that began with the first JNP Grand Cru Auction in 2023.

Roasting

Roasted to a medium-light profile, this coffee is developed to preserve its vibrant sweetness and delicate floral character while allowing its deeper chocolate notes to shine through. The result is a balanced, expressive cup with citrus blossom and honey sweetness, fig acidity, and a lingering chocolate finish.

The GBB Guarantee

We pride ourselves in sourcing the highest quality coffee beans and building direct relationships with farmers and producers.

To maximize freshness, store coffee in an opaque, airtight container in a cool, dark and dry place. Avoid storing coffee in the refrigerator or freezer due to moisture and odor absorption, which can negatively impact flavor.
