Origin: Kenya (Othaya)

Grown at 1,800 meters above sea level in Nyeri County along the lower slopes of Mt. Kenya, this coffee comes from one of the world’s most celebrated coffee-producing regions. The high elevations, cool climate, and mineral-rich volcanic soil allow cherries to mature slowly, developing remarkable sweetness and complexity. In the cup, these conditions reveal themselves through vivid citrus, lush stone fruit, and a crisp, structured finish that defines the best coffees from Kenya.

Sourcing

This lot was produced by the farming members of the Mahiga Factory, part of the Othaya cooperative society in Nyeri, Kenya. Hundreds of smallholder farmers contribute carefully cultivated cherries, which are then processed at the factory using an intensive double fermentation and double washing method rarely seen in Kenya. The result is a coffee with extraordinary clarity, elevated fruit character, and the depth and precision that come from meticulous sourcing and craftsmanship at every stage.

Roasting

We roast Kenya Mahiga Factory to highlight its vibrant acidity, layered fruit notes, and refined sweetness while preserving the clarity that makes this coffee so distinctive. A balanced medium roast brings forward sparkling citrus, juicy white peach, and delicate herbal complexity with a clean, elegant finish.

The GBB Guarantee

We pride ourselves in sourcing the highest quality coffee beans and building direct relationships with farmers and producers.

To maximize freshness, store coffee in an opaque, airtight container in a cool, dark and dry place. Avoid storing coffee in the refrigerator or freezer due to moisture and odor absorption, which can negatively impact flavor.
